Happy Holidays

12/8/2016

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has caught up to us here at Hui o Ko'olaupoko, is it really December 8th already?

2016 seemed to fly right past, but there have been many wonderful moments: impressive cleanups of illegal dumpsites, seeing the first native plants installed at the He'eia Estuary Project, hosting over 100 high school volunteers at one time, planning our next big storm-water management project and seeing the community come together to support our mission to protect ocean health.

HOK is an entity with a small staff: two full-time and one part-time employee.  The amount of volunteers we have had over the last 8 years equals a staff of eighteen full-time employees! Because of this, it's the volunteers that make HOK successful. In 2016, we are so grateful to the 1,400 volunteers who donated over 4,500 hours to various HOK projects across Ko'olaupoko.

Here at HOK we are excited for 2017, watching current restoration sites grow and kicking off new projects, as well continuing our work with the community and our continual effort to have a positive impact on our natural environment through restoration and educational programs.

Your continued support means the world to us here at HOK and we'd love to hear directly from you, the community, to tell us how we are doing. Please use our feedback form to give us some feedback or tell us what you learned that helps you malama your ahupua'a? If you have any questions, concerns or project ideas, please feel free to contact us.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and hope to see you all again in 2017 at our projects, volunteer events and fundraisers.

Mahalo nunui from the HOK Staff,
Kristen, TJ & Lehua
