Two Fun Fundraisers

Hui o Ko'olaupoko would like to extend a sincere mahalo to all who attended and helped to prepare this year's fabulous Makai To Mauka Fundraisers.

The first event, Huakaʻi Mauka (journey to the mountains), took place on Saturday, November 14th at Kualoa Ranch.  This mauka event is an elegant evening on the ranch featuring a cocktail hour with pupu's and jeep tours to view HOK's Hakipuʻu Stream Restoration Project.  The festivities also included a farm to fork dinner collaboration by local chefs Mark "Gooch" Noguchi of Pili Group and Chef Kealoha Domingo of NuiKealoha, live music from Danny Carvalho, an open beer and wine bar, a dessert bar and a robust silent auction.

The second event, Huakaʻi Makai (journey to the ocean), took place on Saturday, November 5th on Kailua Bay.  This makai event is a race for ocean enthusiasts in the categories of swimming, outrigger paddling and stand-up paddle boarding, on courses through Kailua Bay.  This event is a partnership with Kanaka Ikaika Racing Association and Kailua Beach Adventures that aims to raise awareness about HOK's efforts to protect ocean health.

These events are always special for us as a small non-profit, we are constantly amazed and grateful for the support we receive at the event.  This, along with all the volunteers over the past year, re-assures us that we are doing good work.  Mahalo to everyone for weathering the morning squalls to enter the makai race, purchasing a ticket to dinner, seeing our restoration site first hand, participating in our silent auction and our "giving tree."  Your support is truly appreciated.

Please visit our website to view more photos from this year's events.

If for some reason you weren't able to participate in this year's events but still want to make a contribution towards our mission, a tax deductible donation can be made here.

We'd also love to hear from you, what made the events special, what could be improved, etc.  This, of course, is a fundraiser for us to continue engaging the community in our work but, it's also celebration of our community, we want to make sure our community is happy.

Your continued support means the world to us here at HOK. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.  We wish you a wonderful holiday season and hope to see you all again in 2017 at our projects, volunteer events and fundraisers.
